12th annual Cruisin’ the Market Show & Shine brings in largest number

The 12th annual Cruisin’ the Market Show & Shine attracted a near record number of entries to the popular vehicle show at Market Square in downtown Swift Current, Sept. 9.

There were 136 entries featuring a variety of cars, trucks and motorcycles from different eras. Below are the category winners:

First time attending – Cory Rye, 1964 Ford Custom 500; Pre-registration draw winner – Bryan Bennett, 1972 GMC half-ton; Longest distance – Terry Silverson from Kayville, Saskatchewan (282 km), 1955 Chev 210; Participants choice – Aaron Stewart, 1988 Honda CR500; Viewers choice – Lorne Voth, 1955 Chev Nomad; Best foreign motorcycle – Aaron Stewart, 1986 Suzuki Cavalcade 1400; Best North American motorcycle – Lesley Pedersen, 2004 Harley Davidson DynaGlide; Best vintage motorcycle – Dustin Vipond; 1970 Honda CT70; Best muscle car – Terry Mackow, 1970 Dodge Charger R/T; Best foreign car – Reece Digney, 2017 Toyota 86; Special interest – Art Lecuyer, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner 440 6-pack convertible; Work-in-progress – Lance Krause, 1979 D-100 truck; Best pre-1976 truck – Jerry Ruchs, 1966 Ford Bronco; Best post-1976 truck – Laird Clifton, 1977 Chev half-ton; Best pre-1976 Ford – John Wiebe, 1956 Mercury Montclair; Best post-1976 Ford – Hugh McDonough, 2015 Ford Mustang GT; Best pre-1976 GM – David Knittel, 1973 Chev El Camino; Best post-1976 GM – Sharilee Begin, 1984 GMC 4×4 truck; Best pre-1976 Mopar – Garth Ferguson, 1969 Dodge Super Bee; Best post-1976 Mopar – Brent Effler, 1976 Plymouth Scamp; Best rat rod – Dory Wilson, 1929 Ford Model A; Best survivor – Wayne Wilson, 1960 Monarch Richelieu.
