SWAC BASKETBALL LEAGUES

On Tuesday, January 17, Gull Lake hosted Maple Creek girls and boys.   Maple Creek won the boys match up (72-38). Gull Lake top scorers: Kevin To -16 points and Andrei Doroteo – 8 points.  Maple Creek top scorers: Logan Bauer- 23 points and Aydan Buss – 21 points. 

Maple Creek also came out on top in the senior girls game (73-18). Top Maple Creek scorers:  Sierra Frey – 23 points, Savannah Frey – 14 points, Sage Portz – 12 points and Olivia Parsonage – 7 points.  Top Gull Lake scorers: McKenna Radtke – 7 points, Alexa Atem – 4 points and Brynne Leppa – 4 points

Senior league competition will resume after the exam break.  On Tuesday, January 31 Gull Lake girls will be in Herbert and Vanguard boys will host Gull Lake boys.

In junior basketball league play, the Shaunavon junior boys team traveled to play Maple Creek coed on Thursday, Jan 19.Shaunavon boys won the game over the hometown  Maple Creek coed team (83-38). Top  scorer for Shaunavon – Alec McPhee (26 pts). Top scorer for Maple Creek – Ryder Dimmock (10pts)

The next junior league action will be on Thursday, January 26.  Maple Creek coed will head to Frontier to play their coed team.  This is a make-up game from January 5. Maple Creek coed will be hosting Frontier coed on February 2.

UPCOMING DATES: 

Junior sectional curling –  Saturday, February 11.  Top two teams in each sectional advance to Districts.

• Host sites are Fox Valley (Cypress Hills), Gull Lake (Rolling Hills) and Frontier (Whitemud)

Junior SWAC district curling – March 3 /4 – host site Swift Current

Senior sectional curing – top two teams in each sectional advance to Districts.

• Host sites are Cabri hosting at Abbey (Cypress HIlls), Ponteix (Rolling Hills), Eastend (Whitemud)

Senior SWAC district curling – February 10/11 hosted by Ponteix.

Senior regional curling- March 3 /4

Senior provincial curling – March 10/111

Senior Shsaa basketball conferences – March 10/11.  SWAC will host 2A boys conferences in Herbert and 3A boys in Maple Creek.

Senior Shsaa basketball regionals – March 17/18

SHSAA Hoopla in Prince Albert (prov basketball championship)- March 23-25.
