Shaunavon Town Meeting on May 4, to kick off Sensory Room Fundraiser for the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre.
The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation is excited to announce a fundraiser to add a Sensory Room to the Shaunavon Care Centre. The campaign to gather funds and improve the quality of available healthcare has a goal of $125,000.
The fundraiser will begin with a Town Meeting at 7 PM on May 4, in the Grand Coteau Centre Community Room. This meeting is open to all those who want to learn more about this project and our fundraising plans. There will be representatives from the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation, Saskatchewan Health Authority, and the Community available to answer questions.
Our main fundraising event is set to be held during Boom Town Days in Shaunavon. On Saturday, July 16th we will be hosting a beverage garden as well as selling food, having a 50/50 draw, and accepting donations. All funds raised will be used towards the purchase of equipment for the new Sensory Room in the Shaunavon Care Centre.
The Sensory Room system is a gesture-activated projection technology, the system beams customizable images, sounds, and music onto all surfaces including floors, tables, beds, walls, and ceilings. It is proven to be an amazing tool and has brought positive results when used in care settings, especially for those with dementia. It helps to overcome many problems that some adults face, such as feeling isolated, mentally unchallenged and being passive, rather than active. This equipment and space will create many cognitive, physical, emotional, and social rewards for those in the Shaunavon Care Centre.
“This fundraiser will ensure those in the Shaunavon Care Centre will receive the highest quality care available. All donations towards this campaign will stay in the community of Shaunavon and go towards their healthcare needs,” said Jim Dekowny, Executive Director of the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation.
