‘You Are Here: A Place on a Map of the Heart’ at Grasslands Gallery Online

You Are Here: A Place on a Map of the Heart is the latest virtual exhibition hosted by Grasslands Gallery Online, a new online-only art gallery located in Saskatchewan, offering beautiful Saskatchewan art.

Organized by Grasslands Gallery Online at https://grasslandsgallery.com. You Are Here: A Place on a Map of the Heart offers ways nine artists explore what is stored in our hearts, the people, the experiences, the memories that make us who we are.

“We seem to live in a perilous times,” said artist and gallery director Laureen Marchand. “The ongoing pandemic, worries about climate change, a sometimes-unsocial world of social media – it feels as though if ever we needed to connect with our hearts and the hearts of others, it’s now. And in mapping our hearts, we navigate the unknown and the all too familiar, challenging and exploring what it is to live.”

Grasslands Gallery Online hosts artworks by some of Saskatchewan’s most outstanding contemporary artists, available to view and buy from the safety and comfort of each visitor’s own computer. Viewers can “walk” through the virtual exhibition, with the option of a guided tour and close-ups of each artwork seen at their own pace.

Grasslands Gallery Online launched this summer with the intention of enhancing availability of Saskatchewan art. And differently from most art galleries, Grasslands Gallery Online doesn’t house works of art in a single building. Instead, artwork purchased from the gallery is shipped directly from the artists’ studios. This means the artist is the last person to handle the work before it travels to its new home, so both viewer and artist can feel safer. And because artworks are transported only once, it reduces use of materials, carriers, and fuel.

You Are Here: A Place on a Map of the Heart continues online at the gallery until November 20.
