The ambulatory care clinic at Picture Butte’s Piyami Health Centre will be closing effective October 15.

This closure will not affect other Alberta Health Services (AHS) services at that location. Laboratory and diagnostic imaging, along with other AHS services, will still be available. The ambulatory clinic is only a portion of the overall facility, which also includes seniors housing, supportive living, home care, allied health and public health.

A community engagement session will be scheduled for mid-September in the community. Details will be shared once finalized.

AHS has a contract with a local physician who manages, operates and hires staff for the clinic. With its impending closure, AHS is working to recruit two physicians to the community to support primary care in the area.

The community of Picture Butte has been served by the Piyami Health Centre for more than 15 years and the Picture Butte Health Centre before that. AHS is working hard to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Our mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans. Our current focus is on reducing emergency department wait-times, improving EMS response times, increasing access to surgeries, and improving patient flow.
