Coaldale Christian School is excited to announce the 11th annual Coaldale 5K Family Fun Run, to be held as both an in-person and virtual event. While many people are excited to see the return of a single race day, some also appreciate the flexibility that a virtual race provides.
Town of Coaldale mayor, Jack Van Rijn, commends the race organizers for remaining flexible and accommodating. “The main goal of the Fun Run is to see people having fun, getting active, and challenging themselves. By hosting both event styles, this year’s race should be the biggest yet!”
The in-person race will take place April 9th at 10:00 am with start and finish line at the Coaldale Christian School. With its professional chip timing and flat, easy course, it appeals to everyone from the competitive runner to the parent with young ones. Medals will be awarded to the top three contestants in every category. Special prizes will be awarded to the youngest and oldest contestants, as well as the largest family and fastest stroller pusher. The fastest overall female and male will each receive a $100 gift card to Runners Soul.
For those who prefer the virtual event, participants will use the week of April 2-9 to run/walk the 5K with either their families and/or cohorts and submit a personal time online. Virtual participants will each receive a Fun Run buff and will be able to download an individualized race bib and finisher certificate.
Both in-person and virtual entrants can participate in the Corporate Team Challenge and School Team Challenge. The largest Corporate Team will receive a $250 gift certificate to Franco’s Restaurant in Coaldale, while the fastest Team will receive an engraved traveling trophy to proudly display at their business. The School Team Challenge is a great way to encourage kids to participate in the Fun Run. All Coaldale students are eligible to win one of twenty $50 gift cards to Sport Chek, and the largest Coaldale School Team will be awarded $1,500 towards an athletic program; these prizes have been generously donated by the Kinsmen Club of Coaldale and the Christian Credit Union, organizations that value our community, our youth, and active living.

Rehoboth Christian Ministries, an organization that serves people with disabilities and helps them flourish, will receive a $2 donation from every entry. The remaining proceeds are designated for community enhancement projects.
