Consort/Coronation RCMP extremely busy recently

Methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl were seized after Consort/Coronation RCMP and ALERT Lloydminster teamed up to tackle drug trafficking concerns in the two communities. Two people have been arrested.

The joint investigation concluded on March 14, 2022 when investigators searched two vehicles in the town of Coronation and a residence in the Village of Consort.

In total, Consort/Coronation RCMP and ALERT seized:

• 234 grams of suspected methamphetamine;

• 22 grams of suspected cocaine;

• 14 grams of fentanyl

• $197 of Canadian currency

• A shot gun and sawed-off rifle

As a result of the investigation Consort/Coronation RCMP and ALERT have charged;

Melodie Torraville (43) of Consort charged with:

·       Drug trafficking

·       Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking

·       Multiple firearms offences. 

Torraville has been remanded in custody with her next appearance set for March 21, 2022 at Red Deer Provincial Court:

Garret Wilde (33) of Edmonton charged with:

·       Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking

·       Multiple firearms offences.

Wilde has been remanded in custody with her next appearance set for April 8, 2022 at Coronation Provincial Court

“In a small community the problems associated with drug trafficking are amplified. Working alongside ALERT, we were able to swiftly address these concerns, simultaneously removing harmful drugs and dangerous weapons off the street,” said Cpl. Chad Salmi, Consort RCMP.

ALERT expanded to Lloydminster in November 2020. The specialized team is dedicated to combatting organized crime and serves a larger regional footprint, including communities like Consort and Coronation. ALERT was established and is funded by the Alberta Government and is a compilation of the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources committed to tackling serious and organized crime.

* Coronation RCMP charge two suspects with property related offences

Paintearth County, Alta. – On Feb. 17, 2022 Coronation RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle seen leaving Coronation on Highway 12 in the County of Paintearth. Member located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and member didn’t pursue the vehicle. As a result of a subsequent investigation the suspects were identified. Warrants for their arrest were sought and they were later located and arrested without incident.

As a result of the investigation Coronation RCMP have charged;

Danielle Nelson (39) of Sedgewick was charged with:

·       Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000

·       Fail to stop for Peace Officer

·       Fail to Comply with Undertaking

Nelson was released from custody with his next appearance set for April 8, 2022 at Coronation Provincial Court.

Dallas Vaudrin (43) of Killam was charged with:

·       Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000

·       Fail to stop for Peace Officer

·       Fail to Comply with Undertaking

Vaudrin was released from custody with his next appearance set for May 13, 2022 at Coronation Provincial Court.

In a small community the problems associated with property related crimes are amplified. As part of our Rural Crime Reduction Strategy we encourage members of the public/businesses to report suspicious activity. With the assistance of the community we were able to locate the suspects in the stolen vehicle.
