Nanton RCMP were on scene of serious motor vehicle collision Feb. 2

On Feb. 2 at 8:30 a.m., Nanton RCMP were dispatched to a serious four vehicle collision on Highway 2, intersecting with 26th Avenue in Nanton.

The collision involved a sedan, which rear ended an SUV.  A tractor trailer behind the sedan slowed for traffic, it was rear ended by a pickup truck.

The male operating the pickup truck was transported to Foothills hospital by STARS Air Ambulance. A passenger in the sedan and driver of the SUV received minor injuries, they were treated on scene by Emergency Medical Services, while the driver of the semi tractor was uninjured.

Traffic on Highway 2 was being diverted around the collision scene to Hwy 533.

The collision remains under investigation however road conditions are believed a contributing factor. The RCMP Traffic Analyst is assisting in the investigation.

No further diversions to traffic are occurring. Nanton RCMP wish to thank area motorists for their cooperation.
