Swift Current Municipal Detachment extremely March 18

The following is a synopsis of calls for service for the dates indicated:

MARCH-17

4:14 PM – report of a vehicle backing into a business on the 400 block of South Service Road E the day prior, causing damage. Officers attended the business and reviewed video footage but were unable to identify the responsible party.

4:24 PM – report of a female sitting on the shoulder of the #1 Highway. Police were able to locate the female and provided her a courtesy ride to her destination.

5:38 PM – request to conduct a wellbeing check on the caller’s adult son who she had not heard from in two months. Officers attended the son’s residence, he was home and well.

6:11 PM – report of a suicidal individual. Officers along with the PACT worker were able to locate the individual and determined they were not a risk to them-self or others.

7:34 PM – report of a social media scam.

7:47 PM – report of the caller hitting a fire hydrant on the 300 block of Hayes Drive earlier in the day. This matter is still under investigation.

9:16 PM – report of a male and female shoplifting from a business on the 1800 block of Memorial Drive. This matter is still under investigation.

MARCH-18

12:38 AM – report of what was believed to be the sound of gun shots near the caller’s residence on the 600 block of North Railway Street E. Officers made patrols but did not locate anything or anyone suspicious in the area and no further noise could be heard or was reported.

1:56 AM – report of a female who is on a court ordered curfew being at an establishment on the 200 block of Central Avenue N. Officers attended the location and arrested the female who was held in police custody. 29 year old Kaitlyn Lindstrom of Swift Current was charged with one count of breaching her release order under the Criminal Code and appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court March 20, 2023.

10:30 AM – report of a dispute at a business on the 1700 block of Memorial Drive after a male attempted to return an item that had been used. When the store wouldn’t accept the return, the male and staffer got into an argument. Officers

attended and the parties were separated and the male agreed to leave the business.

2:45 PM – report of two males being together who were on -court ordered conditions not to have contact with one another. Police were able to determine they had not been together.

2:53 PM – report of a male known to the caller being seen shoplifting from a business on the 900 block of Central Avenue N. and then left the store. Officers made patrols but were unable to locate the male. When staff at the business were notified of what was taken they did not wish to have any charges laid.

4:28 PM – while on patrol, officers issued a ticket to the driver of a green Jeep Wrangler for disobeying a stop sign.

7:00 PM – request to conduct a wellbeing check on a female youth who was believed to be in Regina, SK. The female was located by police in Swift Current at a local establishment.

7:18 PM – report of an unwanted male at the caller’s residence. Officers attended and through investigation determined the male had broken into the caller’s garage. The male was arrested and held in police custody. During the arrest officers located methamphetamine and fentanyl in the male’s possession. 44 year old Kirk Steinley of Swift Current has been charged with one count of break and enter under the Criminal Code, one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of possession of fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs & Substances Act. Steinley appeared in Swift Current Provincial court March 20, 2023.

8:46 PM – 911 call from a male reporting he’d been assaulted by an unknown male at a location on the 100 block of Hayes Drive. The following day the suspect was able to be identified and arrested by police. The male will be charged with one count of assault under the Criminal Code.

8:48 PM – report of someone slumped over in the driver’s seat of a brown Chevrolet Impala parked on South Service Road W. Officers attended and located a woman with the vehicle trying to stay warm after running out of fuel. Police assisted with getting her fuel for her vehicle.

9:45 PM – report of a hit and run to the caller’s white Ford Edge at the intersection of George Street W and South Service Road W. A partial plate for the suspect vehicle was able to be obtained by the caller. This matter is still under investigation.

10:12 PM – report of an assault that occurred between two female youth at an establishment on the 200 block of 1st Avenue NW. This matter is still under investigation.

MARCH-19

12:17 AM – 911 call from a female youth reporting her mother missing. The caller’s mother had left their residence at approximately 5:00 PM and had not returned home. Police were able to locate the woman the following day and she’d advised she’d gotten stuck while driving and had not had a phone to be able to call anyone.

12:24 AM – request to conduct a wellbeing check on the caller’s neighbour after hearing yelling. Police attended and confirmed the neighbour was okay, she and her boyfriend had guests over and may have been a little loud.

4:46 AM – report of 20 deer walking past the caller’s residence on the 200 block of Jackson Drive. The caller thought the animals looked sick. Police did not attend.

7:27 AM – report of a two vehicle collision on the 100 block of George Street W. The driver of a white Buick Enclave pulled out of a parking lot before it was safe, t-boning a white Honda Civic. Officers attended the location. No one was injured as a result of the collision and the Honda Civic was required to be towed. The driver of the Buick was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for proceeding before safe.

8:04 AM – 911 hang up call from a dwelling unit on the O block of Hayes Drive. Officers attended the residence and confirmed no emergency was taking place.

9:30 AM – report of a theft of property from the caller’s yard on the 300 block of Gladstone Street W sometime overnight. This matter is still under investigation.

12:06 PM – report of the caller’s vehicle being egged while parked on the 200 block of 13th Avenue NE. This is the third time this has happened to the caller’s vehicle. This matter is still under investigation.

2:33 PM – while on patrol officers issued a ticket to the driver of a grey Chevrolet Silverado for holding their cellphone while operating a motor vehicle.

2:36 PM – while on patrol officers witnessed a two vehicle collision at the Central Avenue N and George Street E intersection. The driver of a grey Buick Lesabre making a left hand turn over steered their vehicle hitting a black Ford F150. No one was injured as a result of the collision and the Buick was required to be towed from the scene. This matter is still under investigation.

5:13 PM – report of ongoing issues between two males and today a male threw three eggs at the complainant’s vehicle. The male was given a verbal warning by police about his actions.

7:00 PM – report of a large injured bird on 13th Avenue NE. The caller was advised to contact the conservation office.
