The following is a synopsis of calls for service for the dates indicated for the Swift Current RCMP:
JANUARY-20
5:10 PM – while officers were at a residence on the 400 block of Central Avenue N keeping the peace while a female was retrieving her belongings from the home a second female in the residence assaulted her. Police were able to quickly
arrest the female who was then later released with a future court date. This matter is still under investigation.
5:33 PM – report of a male at a location on the 2000 block of Saskatchewan Drive missing items from his belongings after having them returned by staff. A second call was received from the staff at the location advising the male was refusing to leave and call takers could hear yelling in the background of the call. Police attended the location but the male had left prior to their arrival. Staff at the location told police the male had found what was missing and had left.
6:50 PM – report of a theft from a business on the 1100 block of Central Avenue N. The male thief was located by police but the business decided they did not want to have charges laid against him.
6:52 PM – report of a hit and run to the caller’s black Chevrolet Silverado while parked at a location on the 2000 block of Chaplin Street E. The plate number of the vehicle that hit the caller’s vehicle was able to be obtained. This matter is still under investigation.
7:50 PM – request to assist with a male at a commercial dwelling unit on the 1200 block of South Service Road E who is agitated and causing issues with EMS staff who are trying to assess him. Officers attended and the male had calmed
down and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
11:11 PM – report of a female who has been contacting the caller through a third party knowing she’s not to have contact with her. The female and third party were told to stop contacting the caller otherwise charges would be laid.
JANUARY-21
12:18 AM – report of an alarm at a business on the 500 block of North Service Road W. Officers attended and confirmed the alarm to be false after ensuring the building was secure.
2:09 AM – report of a missing female youth. Officers were able to locate the girl at a friend’s residence.
4:22 PM – report of an alarm at a residence on the 600 block of Hodgson Drive. While officers were on route to the home
the alarm was cancelled by the homeowner.
4:41 PM – report of a female at the caller’s residence to obtain some of her property and the caller anticipated there was going to be issues between the two of them. Officers attended the location but the female had already departed with her things prior to their arrival.
6:00 PM – report of a white Jeep driving up the hill where kids toboggan on North Hill Drive. Officers made patrols but the vehicle could not be located. This matter is still under investigation.
6:41 PM – 911 call of a hit & run to a white Chevrolet Traverse while parked on the 800 block of 4th Avenue NE. The caller advised a white Honda CR-V had just hit the Traverse causing damage and then left the location. A plate number was able to be obtained for the Honda. This matter is still under investigation.
JANUARY-22
3:00 AM – while on patrol, officers attempted to stop a purple Nissan Murano with several yelling occupants in it. The vehicle initially did not stop for police but was later located and the male youth driver was determined to be impaired after failing a roadside alcohol screening test. The male youth driver was arrested and released with a future court date. He will be charged with impaired driving and flight from police under the Criminal Code.
9:23 AM – ammunition was picked up by police for destruction.
9:24 AM – report of the caller’s adult son, who appears to be under the influence of a substance, was on her porch yelling and swearing wanting into the home. Officers attended and the male was arrested and held in custody until he was sober. No charges were laid in relation to the incident.
9:26 AM – report of an employee at a business on the 1800 block of Memorial Drive being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot and the vehicle left without stopping. No one was injured during the collision. This matter still is under investigation.
12:03 PM – report of a male refusing to leave the caller’s residence. Officers attended and the male left without incident.
2:00 PM – while on patrol, officers issued a written warning to the driver of a red Jeep Cherokee for disobeying a stop sign.
2:19 PM – found BB guns were turned into the Detachment for destruction.
4:31 PM – report of a dispute between two teenaged youth. Police instructed both to cease contact with each other.
4:52 PM – while on patrol officers issued a ticket under the Traffic Safety Act to the driver of a red Ford F150 for using their cellphone while operating a motor vehicle.
6:27 PM – report of a possibly impaired male inside a Jeep on 6th Avenue SE. Officers attended and EMS was already on scene assessing the male. It was determined the male was not impaired but police discovered he had a suspended driver’s licence. No charges were laid in relation to the call and the registered owner of the vehicle attended to pick up the
Jeep.
9:40 PM – request to conduct a wellbeing check on a female who the caller believed was going to hurt herself. Officers attended the female’s location and she did not have any intention of causing harm to herself or others.
