The Swift Current and Area Ministerial Homelessness Committee is inviting interested citizens to A Homelessness/Houselessness information night Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Full Gospel Church (72-4th Ave.) Swift Current.
Pastors David Clarke and Greg Kiel will leaden information session about the current status of Swift Current regarding those at risk on the city streets.
There are immediate concerns because of winter night extremes with no safe place for those at risk to find shelter or respite from the cold. A long term extreme weather plan will be discussed with input from attendees.
Organizers hope to do an assessment of the community with the the help of “outreach teams.” These outreach team will consist of volunteers from the community. Most of this work will happen in the evening and late-night hours. The goal is to have the team observe and collect as much information as possible regarding those at risk on the streets of the city. This information will help them develop a strategic plan for the community.
