SCDRA has first race of the season

The Swift Current Drag Racing Association (SCDRA) hosted the first of three racing weekends at the Swift Current Airport, June 11-12. There was a good turnout of racers for the event, with 72 vehicles competing on Saturday and 48 vehicles on Sunday. The next race weekend will begin with a fun day of 1/8 mile racing on Friday afternoon, July 1, when gates open at noon and racing starts at 1 p.m. This will be followed by two formal race days on July 2-3, when gates open at 8 a.m. and racing starts 10 a.m. The SCDRA’s final racing weekend for the 2022 season will take place Aug. 13-14. Below are the results for the June 11-12 race weekend.

June 11 results:

Sportsman class – Winner: Rayce Schultz, Swift Current; Runner-up: Kutis Scott, Radville.

Pro class – Winner: Tim Bowers, Weyburn; Runner-up: Justin Taylor, Gull Lake.

Super Pro class – Winner: Cory Schultz, Swift Current; Runner-up: Martin Wiles, Marwayne, AB.

Junior Dragster class – Winner: Austin Markusson, Medicine Hat, AB; Runner-up: Kindi Opsal, Maple Creek.

Junior Street class – Winner: Nicole Pelletier, Wymark; Runner-up: Aspen Watteyne, Assiniboia.

Buy Backs racing – Winner: Randy Pederson, Swift Current; Runner-up: Travis Wandler, Moose Jaw.

June 12 results:

Sportsman class – Winner: Rick Pulfer, Weyburn; Runner-up: Richard Vogel, Mctaggart.

Pro class – Winner: Randy Koop, Swift Current; Runner-up: Justin Taylor, Gull Lake.

Super Pro class – Winner: Martin Wiles,Marwayne, AB; Runner-up: Cory Shantz, Watrous.

Junior Dragster class – Winner: Austin Markusson, Medicine Hat, AB; Runner-up: Abigail Lowrie, Swift Current.

Junior Street class – Winner: Nicole Pelletier, Wymark.
