We need to talk about margaritas. It’s summer, which means patios, sunshine, margaritas, and a big old side of guacamole. If you’ve been on the hunt for an unbeatable margarita in Calgary, you need to get your butt to Tropical. Bringing authentic Mexican experience to Calgary’s 17th Ave., you will find Mexican street food, delicious cocktails, Latin dancing, and entertainment every weekend.
We’re not exaggerating when we say that this place feels like a full-on vacation. The menu is exploding with amazing choices, including a dozen different tacos, nachos, burritos, quesadillas, and churros. Now that your mouth is watering, let’s address the big, giant cocktail in the room: The Giant Margarita.
Tropical serves a Giant Margarita that is made for three or more amigos. You can choose between the classic flavour or go a little crazy with passion, chilli mango, coconut, blackberry, or pina picante. Or, you can ask your server about the frozen marg of the day. This thing is enormous, delicious, and completely picture-perfect.
If you love a big drink, but hate sharing, go for the Mexican Bulldog. It is served in a big bucket that’s filled with tequila, cirrus, agave, and a Sol beer. You can choose mango, strawberry, or lime flavour. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, don’t worry, they’ve got a great list of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from.
Because we love a happy hour, we need to give you the scoop on what Tropical offers. From 6 pm to 8 pm daily, you can get $3 tacos, chips and salsa for $6, nachos for $12, frozen margs for $5, and discounted Giant Margaritas, of course.
If you end up on that patio and you’re not sure what to order, we’d highly recommend the Chicken Enchiladas Verdes, the Mango & Shrimp Ceviche, or the Nachos. If you love dancing, music, great company, and even better drinks, you’re going to love this place. Whether you’re heading out for a girls' night, meeting a date, or celebrating a special occasion, you know where to go.
