The Brooks Bandits are thrilled to see 11 current and former players attending NHL Development Camps this July.
Defenceman Boston Buckberger (Saskatoon, SK) is attending the Pittsburgh Penguins Camp. The Wisconsin commit is coming off a season that saw him named to the AJHL South Division All-Rookie Team, tallying 31 points in 59 games. He scored 9 points in 13 playoff games, winning an AJHL Championship. He then led all defenceman in scoring at the 2022 Centennial Cup in Estevan, SK with 9 points in 6 games, winning a National Championship.
Forward Devin Phillips (Raleigh, NC) is attending the Carolina Hurricanes Camp in his home state. The Holy Cross commit spent three seasons in Brooks, tallying 145 points in 116 regular season games. The 2022 Nick Crosby Memorial Award winner finished 4th in AJHL scoring in the 2021-22 season (91 points in 45 games), and finished 4th in Playoff scoring with 17 points in 13 games. After winning an AJHL Championship, he went on to rack up 12 points in 6 games at the 2022 Centennial Cup in Estevan, SK, winning a National Championship.
Forward TJ Hughes (Hamilton, ON) is skating at the San Jose Sharks Camp after one of the most prolific goal scoring seasons in AJHL history. The Michigan-commit racked up 66 goals in 60 games during the 2021-22 season, a team record. His 127 points last year is second most all-time in team history, adding 23 points in 11 Playoff Games. He was named to the AJHL South Division All-Star Team, was named the Top Forward in the League, and was a finalist for the CJHL Top Forward award. The AJHL Champion finished his Bandit career 2nd in goals scored, and had 12 points in 6 games at the 2022 Centennial Cup in Estevan, SK, winning a National Championship.
Forward Ryan McAllister (London, ON) heads to the Vegas Golden Knights Camp. The Western Michigan-commit had the most prolific season in Bandits history in 2021-22, smashing the team scoring record with 139 points (57G, 82A) in 60 games, and had 29 points in 13 Playoff Games. He was named Team MVP, AJHL MVP, AJHL Playoff MVP and CJHL MVP. After winning an AJHL Championship, he led the 2022 Centennial Cup in scoring with 18 points in 6 games, clinching the Cup in his final game as a Bandit.
Defenceman Corson Ceulemans (Beaumont, AB) is attending the Columbus Blue Jackets Camp. The Wisconsin Badger played in Brooks from 2019-2021, winning an AJHL and National Championship in 2019. The blueliner has represented Team Canada at the 2019 World U17 Championship in Medicine Hat, AB, the 2019 World Junior A Challenge in Dawson Creek, BC, the 2020 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, the World U18 Championship in Frisco, Texas, and was recently named to Canada’s National Junior Team Summer Camp. He was taken 25th overall by the Blue Jackets at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
Forward Taylor Makar (Calgary, AB) is attending the Colorado Avalanche Camp. Makar played in Brooks from 2018-2021, Captaining the Bandits during the 2020-21 Season, and dressed in 104 regular season games in his Bandits career, scoring 61 points. During his rookie season, he won an AJHL and National Championship. Drafted 220th overall by the Avalanche at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Makar just completed his freshman season at UMass.
Forward Sean Chisholm (Caledonia, ON) heads to the Arizona Coyotes Camp. Chisholm played from 2019-2021 in Brooks, scoring 69 points in 76 games. He was named the team MVP in 2020-21 and had a five-goal game for the Bandits on April 23, 2021 in a 6-3 win over Sherwood Park, a team record. Chisholm just completed his freshman season at Dartmouth, where he racked up 23 points in 31 games.
Defenceman Brandon Scanlin (Hamilton, ON) is at the New York Rangers Camp. The blueliner spent two seasons in Brooks (2017-2019), racking up 84 points in 98 games and 18 points in 24 Playoff Games. He was named the 2019 AJHL Playoff MVP, winning an AJHL and National Championship in the same year. Following his Bandit career, Scanlin played 98 games at Nebraska-Omaha, where he was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team in 2020, and NCHC All-star team Honourable Mention in 2021. He signed a pro contract with the New York Rangers in 2022, appearing in 15 games with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Hartford Wolf Pack.
Goaltender Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) is attending the Detroit Red Wings Camp. Charleson backstopped the Bandits for two seasons (2018-2020), going 78-12-2 in the regular season, and 21-6 in the Playoffs. He was named to the AJHL South Division All-Star Team, winning an AJHL and National Championship in 2019. Charleson has played two seasons at Michigan State University.
Charleson’s teammate at Michigan State, defenceman Dennis Cesana (Providence, RI) is at the Florida Panthers Camp. Cesana spent two seasons in Brooks (2016-2018), wearing the ‘C’ in his second year. He scored 127 points in 119 games, adding 28 points in 28 playoff games. He led the AJHL in Defenceman Scoring in 2017-18 with 75, making the AJHL South Division All-Star Team. He won an AJHL Championship and Western Canada Cup in 2017. At Michigan State, he was named to the BIG 10 All-Rookie Team in 2019, the Big 10 Second All-Star Team in 2020, and Big 10 All-Star Team Honourable Mention in 2021. He signed a pro contract with the Panthers in 2022, appearing in 8 games with their AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers.
Forward Parker Foo (Edmonton, AB) is attending the Chicago Blackhawks Camp. Foo spent two seasons in Brooks (2015-2017), winning two AJHL Championships and a Western Canada Cup. He dressed in 104 regular season games with Brooks, tallying 93 points (42G, 51A) and 26 points in 26 playoff games. He was drafted 144th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, then played three seasons at Union College, dressing in 88 games. He then spent two seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with the Kunlun Red Star. He was then named to the Chinese Men’s Hockey Team at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, and scored the first Olympic goal in Team China history.
