Shaunavon celebrates transportation in motion at inaugural Fly, Ride & Drive event

Shaunavon Economic Development & Innovation in partnership with various local groups & clubs, is proud to host the first-ever Fly, Ride & Drive, a one-of-a-kind celebration taking place September 18 to 20, 2026. Designed to showcase transportation across runway, rail, and road, this inaugural weekend celebrates the historical foundation and future opportunities of rural connectivity in Southwest Saskatchewan.

“Transportation is the lifeline of our rural communities, connecting our people, goods, and services,” said the Shaunavon Economic Development & Innovation Officer, Mary Scott. “Fly, Ride & Drive is a brand-new experience for our region; it’s an opportunity to highlight various methods of transportation, emerging technologies, explore local career paths, and bring businesses, clubs, and families together to build memories that support our region’s sustainable growth.”

Weekend Event Highlights include:

Friday, September 18: History & Community Kickoff

● Shaunavon Town Hall Centennial Celebration (10AM-4PM)

● Community BBQ & Football Game at the SHS (12 pm 2:30pm kickoff)

● Show & Show at the Plaza Theatre (6PM lineup your rides & socialize, 7:30pm Cars 20th Anniversary movie starts)

Saturday, September 19: The Main Showcase

● Pancake Breakfast (8:30 – 11AM) : Hosted by Rock Solid at Coop Parking Lot.

● Market & Rail Exhibit (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Travel the World Market & CP Rail Exhibit at the Grand Coteau Heritage & Cultural Centre.

● Bicycle Loonie Ride & Show (11:30 AM): Community bike pickup route starting at Shaunavon Elk’s Hall ending at Shaunavon Airport.

● Transportation Show & BBQ (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Full showcase of airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, and bicycles at Shaunavon Airport, alongside air-and-ground homing demonstrations.

● Model Train Show (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Train safety and model exhibits at Christ the King Hall.

● Legion Centennial & Cabaret (6:00 PM): Transportation Awards supper followed by cabaret and live music from Ken Carson & Group at the Legion at 8:00 PM.

Sunday, September 20: Convoy & Aviation

● Sunday Cruise to Eastend (10:00 AM) : Group vehicle convoy departing from Stardust Motel & 2 for 1 Pizza for local shopping, museum exploring, and train car tours in Eastend.

● Things that Fly Showcase (1:00 PM): feature event in Shaunavon.
