Another busy Saturday for the Swift Current Municipal RCMP Detachment

The following is a synopsis of calls for service for the dates indicated:

2023-JUNE-23

4:45 PM – report of the caller’s ex-husband sending threatening text messages to members of her family. This matter is still under investigation.

5:57 PM – police assisted Saskatchewan Highway Patrol with taking breath samples in relation to an impaired driver investigation.

6:57 PM – report of a stove fire at a residence on the 400 block of 9th Avenue NW. Officers attended along with the Swift Current Fire Department who extinguished the fire. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

7:01 PM – report of two suspicious individuals that have been staying at a business on the 300 block of South Railway Street W. This matter is still under investigation.

9:37 PM – report of an alarm at a business on the 1900 block of Chaplin Street W. Officers attended and determined the alarm to be false after ensuring the building was secure.

11:06 PM – report of a loud party coming from a residence on the 200 block of 3rd Avenue NE. Officers attended and spoke to the property rep who agreed to turn the music off.

JUNE-24

12:58 AM – 911 call of a suspicious male who had appeared to be looking into vehicles. The caller followed him to a location on the 100 block of 21st Avenue NE. Officers attended the location and spoke to the male who agreed to have police search his bag but they did not locate anything.

3:01 AM – report of a male waiting for a taxi cab and claiming the cabs were taking to long to arrive due to a police presence in the area. Officers called the male, who advised he’d made it to his home in Herbert, SK and was not able to clearly explain why he had called for police in the first place.

1:17 PM – report of a male who had been in a business on the 100 block of 1st Avenue NW, smelling of alcohol had gotten into the driver’s seat of a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo and drove away. Officers made patrols but were unable to

locate the vehicle.

1:30 PM – report of possible neglect of an elderly male. This matter is still under investigation.

2:16 PM – report of a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt that continuously speeds on Chaplin Street E. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and the youth driver who was given a verbal warning about their driving habits.

2:44 PM – 911 hang up call of an emergency crash notification and the owner is not responding to their phone. The area of the crash notification was unknown except for being in Swift Current. Police made several patrols but did not locate any collisions or other emergencies. It was later determined who the owner of the phone was. Police spoke with him and he advised he had not had an emergency and did not know about the call made to 911 .

4:29 PM – report of the caller’s neighbour yelling at someone to get out of her residence on the 100 block of 11th Avenue SE. Officers attended the residence and spoke to the female neighbour who advised she and a male had gotten into an argument and he left prior to police arrival. Officers were able to speak with the male confirming he would not be returning to the residence.

4:41 PM – report of the caller advising he was contacted by his financial institution and notified someone had been trying to access his personal information. This matter is still under investigation.

9:31 PM – police assisted Saskatchewan Highway Patrol with an impaired by drug investigation.

10:04 PM – report of three suspicious men around the bushes of a commerical dwelling unit on the 1300 block of North Service Road E. Officers attended and did not locate anyone outside.

10:25 PM – report of two youth having another male youth known to them shot them with a “gel blaster” while at a business on the 200 block of 1st Avenue NW. Officers spoke with the male youth who was given a verbal warning.

11:42 PM – report of a vehicle in the ditch on 17th Avenue SE. The caller advised there was an SUV in the ditch with it’s driver’s side door open and no one around. No plate number for the vehicle was able to be provided by the caller. Officers attended but the vehicle was no longer there and no debris could be found in the area.

JUNE-25

3:21 AM – 911 misuse call from a location on the O block of North Railway Street E. Police attended and confirmed no emergency was taking place, the caller had dialed 911 by mistake when trying to make an outside call.

10:52 AM – report of three male youth walking through the parking lot of a dwelling unit on the 1100 block of 6th Avenue NE breaking bottles and would like them spoken to. Officers conducted patrols but were unable to locate the boys.

5:37 PM – report of fraudulent transactions being made on the caller’s debit card after losing it downtown. This matter is still under investigation.

8:52 PM – report of a male walking down Central Avenue N carrying a baseball bat. Police were able to locate the male who was intoxicated, arresting and lodging him until he was sober.
