The following is a synopsis of calls for service for June 9-11:
JUNE-09
5:34 PM – request to conduct a wellbeing check on a female. Officers attended her residence, she was home and well.
8:01 PM – report of the driver of a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt driving erratically and revving the engine making loud noises on the 1200 block of Riverdene Park Drive. Officers made patrols, locating the vehicle and speaking with the driver who was given a verbal warning about his driving and agreed to be more respectful of those living in the area.
8:17 PM – report of the caller’s sibling harassing him at a residence on the 300 block of 6th Avenue NW who was there to see their father. Officers attended the residence and the caller had left the location prior to their arrival. The homeowners and parents of the sibling had no issue with her being there.
8:29 PM – 911 call from a female reporting she locked her keys inside of her apartment and she cannot get a response from her landlord. The caller also advised she had a child in the home who was unable to unlock the door. Officers attended and assisted the caller with getting back into her residence.
9:48 PM – report of a female known to the caller going into the washroom of a business on the 300 block of Central Avenue N and after leaving burned tin foil from suspected drug use was located. The caller did not wish to have police follow up with the female, only wanting the incident documented as they will be issuing her a letter prohibiting her from returning to the property.
10:38 PM – report of a hit and run on the 1200 block of Riverdene Park Drive. The caller advised that a male youth known to her driving a grey Honda Civic had hit a female youth pedestrian and then drove away from the location and was believed to be impaired. The pedestrian was reported to have injuries and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Officers attended the collision location and spoke with several witnesses. Police made patrols and later located the vehicle and driver at a residence on the O block of MacDonald Crescent. The driver of the Honda failed a roadside alcohol screening test and was arrested and transported to the Detachment for further testing. He was later released to a sober parent. The youth has been charged with one count of impaired driving causing bodily harm and one count failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm under the Criminal Code. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
JUNE-10
1:01 AM – 911 call of a party taking place in a dwelling unit on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue SE. Officers attended the apartment complex but could not hear any noise.
2:12 AM – 911 call from a female advising she heard there were three men outside an establishment on the 200 block of Central Avenue N “jumping people” and they had beaten someone up earlier in the evening. Police made patrols but did not locate anything concerning happening in the area. The caller was unable to provide police with any names of potential victims from earlier in order to follow up with them .
2:41a.m. – 911 call from a male wanting to report a police vehicle operating without its headlights being turned on. Officers spoke with the caller and advised him the lights on the police vehicle were now on.
11:22 AM – report of the caller receiving text messages from a male who is on police ordered conditions not to contact him. The male will be charged with one count of failing to com ply with the conditions of his undertaking under the Criminal Code.
11:49 AM – while on patrol, officers issued a ticket to the driver of a black Ford F150 for failing to produce his driver’s licence upon officer request under the Traffic Safety Act.
12:09 PM – report of a minor fender bender on the 100 block of Central Avenue N. The driver of a white Dodge Ram had
backed into a white Toyota Corolla causing minimal damage, however the matter was police reportable because the Toyota was registered in Alberta. No charges were laid in relation to the collision.
1:09 PM – report of a male shoplifting from an establishment on the 200 block of 1st Avenue NE on two different occasions. This matter is still under investigation.
1:53 PM – report of a suspicious male at a vacant residence on the 600 block of 1st Avenue NE. The caller advised the same male had previously been told to leave that property. Officers attended and located the male cleaning up the yard. He was told to leave and that if he were to return again he would be charged.
2:01 PM – report of the driver of a grey GMC Jimmy not staying in their lane while on South Service Road E. Officers made patrols, locating the vehicle and driver. Police confirmed the male was not impaired and gave him a verbal warning about his driving.
5:32 PM – report of a male youth leaving a location on the 200 block of Herbert Street. Police were able to locate the male and return him to the location.
9:15 PM – 911 call from a female reporting a male and female known to her had stolen property from her residence while she was at her employment. This matter is still under investigation.
9:39 PM – report of two semi’s parked on the on ramp to the #1 Highway at Central Avenue N. Officers attended but the semi’s had left prior to their arrival.
JUNE-11
1:03 AM – 911 hang up call from a residence on the 100 block of Valley Park Place. Call takers could hear screaming in the background but the female on the line did not want to provide any information and disconnected. A second call was then received from the same location, this time from a male reporting his mother was intoxicated and had hit her adult daughter. Officers attended the residence and the male confirmed everything was fine now. Police spoke with the
daughter who confirmed her mother had slapped her but she did not wish to have the matter pursued and refused to provide a statement about what occurred.
3:30 AM – 911 call from a residence on the 400 block of 4th Avenue SE. Two females in the residence were intoxicated and began yelling at each other. Police attended the home and confirmed nothing physical had taken place between the two women and one left in a taxi.
1:52 PM – report of a suspicious male youth waiting for a ride on the corner of the 600 block of 6th Avenue NE. The caller
advised that when she spoke to the boy he seem evasive and the caller felt that something was not right. Officers attended the location and spoke to the boy who advised he was waiting for his mother to pick him up after his camping trip had been cancelled. The mother attended and picked up her son.
2:55 PM – 911 call from a female advising that the people who stole from her the night prior would be returning her property and she would no longer like police involvement in the matter. Police spoke with the caller, giving her a verbal warning about the proper use of 911 and confirmed her file would be concluded.
4:10 PM – a male and female attended the Detachment looking for assistance obtaining food vouchers. The couple were hitchhiking to British Columbia and had no money. Officers were able to connect the pair with Social Services to get some assistance.
5:01 PM – report of the caller having money fraudulently taken out of her bank account. This matter is still under investigation.
6:00 PM – request from the caller to attend a residence on the 500 block of Robert Street E to assist his daughter with her ex-boyfriend, who is refusing to return property to her. Police were familiar with the pair and have previously spoken to them about their on-going property disputes. Officers attended their location and explained again that the matter was civil.
7:50 PM – 911 call from a male reporting a male had accidentally locked themselves in a room at a business on the 200 block of 1st Avenue NE. Officers attended the location and found the male and caller when they arrived. The male had been able to find a door he could unlock in order to get out.
8:39 PM – request to conduct a wellbeing check on the caller’s wife after she and a friend had gone for a ride down the creek on floatation devices and now he could not reach her. Police eventually were able to locate the two women, who had gone to a friend’s residence to charges their cellphones that had died. The wife confirmed she would call her husband right away to let him know they were okay.
