The City of Swift Current is pleased to announce that construction season is beginning for 2023. The annual paving and concrete program and various seasonal construction projects will be taking shape from now into mid-to-late summer in various areas of the city, which will sometimes result in brief traffic or pedestrian restrictions to accommodate the work.

Pothole patching will start May 1, 2023. The paving and concrete program will also be getting underway this week and remain in effect into the summer months during favourable weather. When traffic is impacted significantly in an area, the City will advise with additional news releases, social media posts, and notices to Emergency Medical Services, Swift Transit, school buses and cart collection service providers. For up-to-date progress on the paving and concrete program, and a list of other projects on-the-go this season, including work on the creek bank, the installation of a new storm outfall, and gravel road construction, residents can review the Construction Updates page on the City’s website at http://www.swiftcurrent.ca/construction.

“We’re excited to bring the public’s attention to construction season, after a very long winter. We want to ensure that residents are prepared for work zones. Traffic can be affected, streets can be temporarily closed, lanes restricted, or pathways affected depending on the project, but there will be ample communication ahead of time and on-site signage to guide people through the construction,” explains Mitch Minken, General Manager of Infrastructure & Operations.
