Lethbridge & District Exhibition received a $2 million contribution from Lethbridge County for their new Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre.
The decision to commit funds to the project was made unanimously by Lethbridge County Council earlier this month. Today, Reeve Tory Campbell presented Lethbridge & District Exhibition CEO Mike Warkentin with a cheque and was given a tour of the facility, which is anticipated for completion this coming spring.
“Lethbridge County Council is proud to provide funding to an innovative new facility that will provide additional investment and opportunity to the area,” says Reeve Tory Campbell. “Agriculture is the backbone of the County and we see great value in investing in our agricultural community. We look forward to the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre showcasing all that our region has to offer.”
“Lethbridge & District Exhibition was founded by farmers and ranchers that came from Lethbridge County to showcase the fruits of their labour. The rural community has been the foundation of this organization for over 125 years. This gift, cements that legacy as well as paves the way for the future between these two great organizations.”
Once completed in 2023, the best-in-class facility will champion the tremendous impact that southern Alberta’s agricultural producers continue to make across the region and country. Agriculture is the backbone of Lethbridge County, and the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre will serve to host and educate the greater community on where their food comes from, as well as the countless opportunities that lie ahead in agriculture.
