Swift Current Municipal Detachment swamped Oct. 15
The following is a synopsis of calls for service for the dates indicated for Swift Current RCMP:
OCTOBER-14
4:21 PM – while on patrol officers issued a written warning to the driver of a blue Ford Focus for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licence.
6:21 PM – report of on-going issues between the caller and his former employer. Police spoke to both individuals and they were told to cease communication with each other.
7:09 PM – 911 call of a male youth having a “breakdown”. Police along with EMS attended the residence and spoke with the boy and his mother. He eventually calmed down and police left him in the care of his mother.
10:43 PM – while on patrol officers issued a written warning to the driver of a grey Jeep Gladiator for following a vehicle closer than is reasonable and safe.
OCTOBER-15
5:06 AM – report of loud music coming from a residence on the 400 block of 1st Avenue NE. Officers attended the home and spoke to the owner who was told to turn it off.
8:01 AM – report of an intoxicated female known to the caller attending his residence last night wanting to be let in. The caller did not let her in and she in turn broke one of his windows. The caller did not wish to have police pursue any charges and only wanted police to document what occurred.
9:03 AM – report of a disagreeable sign being put up on the 1700 block of Chaplin Street E.
10:05 AM – report of a stolen silver Chevrolet Impala being recovered on the 1300 block of Cheadle Street W. The vehicle had been abandoned by a female after failing to stop for Morse RCMP. This matter is still under investigation.
10:57 AM – report of a fire at a residence on the 300 block of 3rd Avenue NW. Police were not required at the scene.
2:01 PM – report of a tenant disagreement and owing of rent money. The caller and the tenant had come to an arrangement, the caller just wanted police aware of the situation.
4:20 PM – report of a hit and run to the caller’s black Ford F150 while parked in the lot of a business on the 1800 block of Memorial Drive. A witness had advised an elderly male driving a white truck had backed into the caller’s vehicle and drove away after looking at the damage. No plate number was able to be obtained for the white truck.
5:58 PM – 911 call from a male advising he has a warrant issued for his arrest out of Prince Albert and he will wait at a business on the 400 block of North Service Road E for police as he would like to have it dealt with. Police attended and the male was arrested and released for a future court date in Prince Albert, SK.
6:22 PM – report of the complainant being assaulted and threatened the night prior by her boyfriend. Police were able to locate the male who was arrested and placed on conditions of no contact with the female and given a future court date.
10:08 PM – report of an alarm at a business on the 700 block of Robert Street E. Police attended and confirmed the alarm to be false after ensuring the business was secure.OCTOBER-16
1:11 AM – report of a truck doing burn outs on the 200 block of 15th Avenue NE. Police made patrols but did not locate any vehicles in the area doing burn outs.
1:40 AM – report of a male who appeared intoxicated, smoking something from a pipe in a red Pontiac G6 while parked at a location on the 1400 block of North Service Road E and then drove away. Police made patrols but did not locate the vehicle.
1:40 AM – report of a male youth known to the caller saying he was going to “jump her” and her friends. The caller advised she and her friends ran away and then gave a description of his orange truck. Police were able to locate the truck and speak to the male who said he’d said that after the caller called him and his friends an expletive. Both youth were told
o be more kind with their words.
7:16 AM – report of a male attempting to get into the caller’s residence on the 300 block of Central Avenue S. Police attended and spoke to the male who advised he’d knocked on the door looking to talk to a friend who was at the caller’s residence. The male was told to stay away from both the caller and her friend and not return to the residence, to which he agreed.
10:48 AM – report of a gas and dash at a business on the 400 block of North Service Road E that occurred an hour and a half prior. The caller could not provide any information other than it was a white car. This matter is still under investigation.
12:35 PM – report of the caller’s dirt bike that had been by his garage was stolen sometime overnight from the 600 block of 3rd Avenue NE. The caller advised that the bike was used for parts, had a flat tire and no seat on it. There are no witnesses, suspects or video footage.
12:46 PM – 911 call of a male trespassing on the caller’s property. The caller advised the male had been rummaging through some of his property. The male identified himself and left after being confronted by the caller, however the caller was concerned as it appeared he had a knife in one of his hands. Police made patrols and located the male who was known to them. He advised that he’d stopped to pick up a piece of wood and has been using the knife to carve the wood but returned the wood and left when he was confronted. This matter is still under investigation.
1 :17 PM – report of a hit and run to the caller’s brown GMC Safari while parked on the 1200 block of Jubilee Drive sometime overnight. There are no witnesses, suspects or video footage.
2:37 PM – report of a break and enter to a business on the 2000 block of North Service Road W where items were taken and property damage occurred. This matter is still under investigation.
5:10 PM – while on patrol officers issued a ticket to the driver of a black Chevrolet Equinox for using her cellphone while operating a motor vehicle.
5:46 PM – report of two male youth known to the caller throwing garbage at her vehicle and going into her vehicle, taking items and throwing them into the trees at a location on 13th Avenue NE. Police spoke with the two boys who were given verbal warnings about the criminal consequences of their actions.
6:27 PM – report of the caller’s father leaving their residence on the 500 block of Robert Street E, intoxicated and angry after the family would not allow him to drive and they do not want him to return to the home. While police were making patrols a second call came in from the family advising he had returned to the residence and was yelling, demanding the vehicle keys be given to him. Officers attended the home and arrested the male who was held in custody until he was sober. No charges were laid in relation to the incident.
