Swift Current Municipal Detachment very busy last weekend

The following is a synopsis of calls for service for the dates indicated:

SEPTEMBER-23

4:50 PM – report of a person who is on court-ordered conditions not to have any contact with the caller but has been sending him text messages. A 29 year old from Swift Current was located and arrested by police. The person has been charged with one count of failing to comply with a condition of their release order and was held in custody to make an appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court September 26, 2022.

4:51 PM – 911 call of a two vehicle collision on the 200 block of 7th Avenue NW. The driver of a blue Toyota Camry had rear ended a black Dodge Ram that had been parked on the side of the street after a spider had come down from the visor and startled the driver of the Camry. Police attended the scene and the driver of the Camry had already left after providing her details to the owner of the Dodge. No one was injured as a result of the collision. The driver of the Camry was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licence.

5:20 PM – report of a male breaching the conditions of his court order by consuming alcohol. This matter is still under investigation.

6:52 PM – report of a suicidal individual. Police along with EMS attended the individual’s residence where they were transported to the hospital by EMS for further evaluation.

7:23 PM – report of a suspicious male that had been at the caller’s shop earlier in the day showing interest in some tools he had out front of the business and was concerned he may return and steal something later. Police spoke to the caller who was told to contact police if any offence occurs.

7:30 PM – report of a missing girl. The caller advised his eleven year old daughter had a tantrum and left his residence approximately half an hour prior and the caller has been out driving, looking for her since and cannot locate her. Police made patrols and located the daughter who was returned to the care of her father.

SEPTEMBER-24

12:16 AM – report of a loud party with underage drinking on the O block of MacDonald Crescent. Police attended the residence and shut the party down.

12:56 AM – report of the caller receiving concerning text messages from his mother who is residing in a long-term care facility in Swift Current. Police were able to speak with staff at the facility and confirm her wellbeing on behalf of her son.

12:58 AM – report of a room being broken into at a commercial dwelling unit on the 1300 block of North Service Road E. Police attended the location and spoke to the individuals who had been staying in the room and had since been moved to another room after returning earlier to find their belongings rummaged through. Nothing appeared to be stolen and there is no video footage. This matter is still under investigation.

9:24 AM – report of a male staying behind a location on the 600 block of Central Avenue N. Police located the male who advised he is trying to get to British Columbia but has no money or supports in Swift Current. All local resources for the male to follow up with were closed until Monday so police provided him with a gift certificate in order to get some food.

9:31 AM – 911 call of two vehicle collision at the intersection of 2nd Avenue NW and Sidney Street W. The driver of a white Dodge Dakota hit the rear of a parked black Jeep Liberty, admitting afterwards they did not see the vehicle. No one. was injured as a result of the collision and no charges were laid.

11:07 AM – report of a suspicious male behind the caller’s residence on the 300 block of Walsh Trail digging in the grass.

Police attended and spoke to the male who advised he was just looking for rocks.

1:27 PM – report of a sudden death at a residence in Swift Current. An 83 year old female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The death has been deemed non-suspicious.

2:31 PM – report of a collision on the 100 block of Central Avenue N where a white Ford F150 drove into two local businesses causing significant damage. No one was injured as a result of the collision and the Ford was required to be towed. This matter is still under investigation.

2:36 PM – report of found property. The caller advised 20 years ago he’d been paid out for a bike he had insured after it had been stolen by his son. The caller recently found out his son still has possession of the bike and is residing in Saskatoon. This matter is still under investigation.

5:40 PM – report of a semi and trailer hitting a tree branch along 1st Avenue NW. The branch fell onto the street and the semi drove away.

6:25 PM – report of a stolen vehicle. The caller advised that a male known to him had not paid the remaining balance of a vehicle he had sold to him. A short time later the caller contacted police again and told them the matter had been sorted out and police assistance was no longer required .

6:59 PM – report of a child custody concern. The caller was advised it was a civil matter.

11:10 PM – report of a suicidal individual. The individual was located and transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

SEPTEMBER 25

12:32 AM – report of five males talking very loudly outside the caller’s dwelling unit on the 500 block of Robert Street E and would like them told to be quiet. Police attended the area and located the males who were told to keep it down.

2:36 AM – 911 call of an assault at an establishment on the 200 block of Central Avenue N. Police attended along with EMS and determined a male had been hit and fell down, hitting his head on the curb. The male was assessed by EMS and went home with a friend . The person who had hit the male was no longer at the location. This matter is still under investigation.

4:29 AM – report of an alarm at a business on the 100 block of 5th Avenue NW. Police attended the business and confirmed the alarm to be false after ensuring the building was secure.

8:06 AM – 911 call of a small blue car travelling eastbound in the westbound lane of traffic on the #1 Highway. Police made patrols but did not locate the vehicle.

2:24 PM – report of an alarm at a location on the 2100 block of Adams Street. Police attended and confirmed the alarm to be false after ensuring the building was secure.

5:25 PM – report of a male known to the caller caused damage to one of their signs at a business on the 100 block of Central Avenue N. The following day police spoke with the caller who advised they’d spoken with the male and sorted out the matter so police involvement would no longer be required .

8:53 PM – report of a young boy sitting on the sidewalk on Grey Street E crying. Police attended the location and located the boy sitting with the caller. The boy told police he had been out for a bike ride with his dad and got lost when he got too far ahead. A second call had come in through 911 from the boy’s father reporting him missing. The father and son were reunited.

9:03 PM – report of a downed stop sign at the intersection of 2nd Avenue NE and Herbert Street E. The City
