Members of the Lethbridge Police Service Crime Suppression Team charged a male with multiple offences Tuesday, following a short-term drug investigation.
Police responded to reports of a male trafficking drugs to the vulnerable population downtown. After observing activity consistent with drug trafficking, a search warrant was obtained and the subject was arrested without incident at a residence in the 500 block of 12 Street North on Aug. 9, 2022.
A subsequent search of the subject and residence resulted in the seizure of drugs valued at about $13,000, including methamphetamine (58.4 grams), fentanyl (45.7 grams), cocaine (11.2 grams), codeine (26 pills) and a quantity of unknown pills. Also seized was $17,190 cash (proceeds of crime) and a quantity of loose change, stolen property including power tools and credit cards, along with knives, bear spray, pellet guns and ammunition.
Robert Joseph Zimmer, 48, of Lethbridge, was charged with: four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking; three counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order (from a previous arrest in May 2022); two counts of possession of a stolen credit card; as well as possession of a prohibited weapon/device; possession of stolen property under $5,000; and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.
He remains in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
