Swift Current Municipal Detachment busy Dec. 10-12

The following is a synopsis of calls for service for the dates indicated:

DECEMBER-10

4:45 PM – 911 call of a dispute on the 500 block of South Service Road W. The caller advised the employee at the location was refusing to provide him his change because he wasn’t wearing a mask as required in the current Saskatchewan Public Health Order. While on the phone with call takers the caller was given his change and police were no longer required.

5:18 PM – report of a dispute between a former employee and employer over missing pay. Police attended the location and spoke with both who were able to sort it out without further police involvement.

6:39 PM – 911 call of an assault on the 500 block of Robert Street E. The caller advised his spouse has not been taking her prescribed medications properly and began assaulting him when he was going to take the dog for a walk. Police attended the location and spoke to both. The female was arrested by police and will be charged with one count of assault under the Criminal Code.

9:04 PM – report of the caller’s grey Nissan Rogue being stolen from an establishment on the O block of Central Avenue N. A few minutes later the caller contacted police to advise she had located her vehicle, she had not seen it initially because a truck had been parked in front of it.

1 :04 PM – 911 call of a disturbance in a dwelling unit on the 300 block of 4th Avenue NW. The caller advised it sounds like someone keeps falling on the floor and she can hear strange noises. Police attended the residence and spoke to the occupants of the suite who advised it was her animals making the noise. She was asked to try and keep them in check so others living in the complex wouldn’t be disturbed.

11:12 PM – report of a collision happening earlier in the day in the parking lot of a location on the 1100 block of 11th Avenue NE. The caller advised she had backed into another vehicle causing damage only to her vehicle. No one was injured as a result of the collision.

DECEMBER-11

2:03 AM – report of a disturbance at an establishment on the 200 block of Central Avenue N. The caller advised a fight had broke out involving two males. Police attended the location and learned a patron had pushed a staff member and then a friend of the patron stepped in to assist if there was going to be a fight. The males agreed to leave the establishment. No charges were laid in relation to the incident.

10:55 AM – report of a single vehicle collision on 7th Avenue NW and Chaplin Street W involving a black Jeep Liberty hitting a light pole. Police attended the collision scene and spoke with the driver who advised she slid into the light pole after hitting a patch of ice. The driver was not hurt as a result of the collision. The vehicle was required to be towed and the City of Swift Current was notified of the damaged pole

11:04 AM – request to check on a male walking along South Service Road E. Police attended the area and located the male and spoke with him. He advised he was attempting to get to Caronport, SK but he did not have any money. Social Services was able to be contacted and assisted with getting the male to his destination.

2:44 PM – request to assist with keeping the peace while the mother of the caller’s grandson attempted to see her child. Police attended the residence and spoke with the caller who advised the mother no longer had custody of the child and she became upset when he did not want to see her. Police explained to the mother that her son was not required to see her if he did not wish to. The mother was upset and left the residence. No other calls were received in relation to this complaint.

3:37 PM – report of an adult female leaving a location on the 2000 block of Saskatchewan Drive. Police made extensive patrols and were unable to locate the female. At 6:49 PM police were contacted and advised the female had returned and police no longer needed to continue looking for her. At 7:12 PM staff at the location contacted police to advise the female who had returned was in possession of what appeared to be crystal meth. Police attended the location and seized the

substance that was confirmed to be meth. The female was arrested and given a future court date. The female will be charged with one count of possession of methamphetamine under the Controlled Drugs & Substances Act.

10:57 PM – report of a black Jeep Patriot blocking the caller’s garage for the last three hours on the 800 block of Central Avenue S. Police attended the area and were able to locate the driver of the vehicle who was given a verbal warning and told to move the vehicle.

11:17 PM – report of suspicious activity at one of the rooms in the caller’s commercial dwelling unit. Police spoke to the caller who advised there was no disturbances or criminal activity to report, only that he’s seen people come and go from the room.

DECEMBER-12

12:02 AM – report of the caller’s wallet being stolen from her place of employment on the 1800 block of Memorial Drive and after checking her banking saw her debit card was used at several different businesses in Swift Current. The caller was able to block further use of the card. This matter is still under investigation.

3:22 AM – 911 call from a location on the 2000 block of Saskatchewan Drive advising a female, the same female dealt with the day prior, was attempting to escape. Police attended the location and the female had been able to be calmed down by staff prior to their arrival but she had caused damage to the property in her attempt to flee. The female was arrested and given a future court date. The female will be charged with one count of mischief and one count of failing to comply with the condition of her release order under the Criminal Code.

4:52 AM – report of a disturbance on the 0 block of 8th Avenue NE. The caller advised he is on a court order of no-contact with a female who has since left but had been at his residence in an attempt to get him in trouble with police. Police also spoke with the female who advised the male had contacted her. Both were given verbal warnings about any further contact between them and next time charges would be laid.

10:43 AM – report of the caller being frightened as someone had been on her deck and has taken photos. Police attended the caller’s residence and were able to confirm the prints on the caller’s property belonged to an animal, not a human.

12:28 PM – report of the caller’s grey GMC Sierra being vandalized while parked on the 100 block of 3rd Avenue NE. There are no suspects or witnesses.

1:47 PM – report of a medical alarm at a residence on the 0 block of 2nd Avenue SE. Police attended the residence and confirmed the alarm to be false. The female residing in the home advised police she was fine and that she’s been having issues with the alarm .

3:40 PM – while on patrol officers issued a ticket to the driver of a grey Ford Escape for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licence.

3:49 PM – report of a hit & run to the caller’s red Dodge Journey sometime over the weekend while parked on the 100 block Conlin Drive. There are no suspects or witnesses.

5:18 PM – 911 call from a business on the 100 block of 11th Avenue NW reporting a battery being stolen from one of the vehicles at the business. While on the phone with call takers the caller was able to confirm that the owner of the vehicle had taken possession of the battery and police were not required.
