SunDogs junior volleyball teams do well first week in April

The SunDogs junior volleyball teams have seen a lot of highways the last few weeks.


15U Girls
The 15U Girls had a respectable weekend at the Sask Cup#3 tournament in Warman as Liam Choo-Foo, Travis Kelln and Shawn Hiebert watched their squad win the Division 1 silver medal.
They dropped a 22-25, 25-12, 13-15 decision to the Weyburn Rush April 2.
They opened the tournament with a 20-25, 13-25 loss to Prince Albert Toppers En Fuengo. They beat QCVC Royal Fusion 22-25, 25-17, 17-15 before dropping a 23-25, 16-25 decision to Oxbow. In the crossover game they beat JCVC Elite 19-25, 25-15, 15-8.
April 2 they beat Prince Albert 25-23, 25-17 and Oxbow Black Knights 18-25, 25-13 and 15-12. before the final loss to Weyburn.
U14 Yellow
The U14 Women SunDogs led by Brad Gross and Chris Grainger were in Moose Jaw April 1-2 and finished seventh overall earning a victory over Regina’s QCVC Sabotage squad 25-19, 25-20 April 2.
This was a nice rebound match as they lost to the Sabotage 24-26, 25-16, 12-15 to open the tournament April 1.
In other matches they lost 12-25, 20-25 to the Moose Jaw Element; beat Rouleau 25-15, 25-20 and the Humboldt Hornets 25-16, 26-24.
On April 2, they lost to the Junior SunDogs Black 16-25, 19-25 and lost a hard fought 25-27, 25-16, 16-18 to the Yorkton Blitz.
The week previous, the U14 Yellow finished 3-3 match wise but earned the gold medal in Division 2 Tier 2 at Sask Cup #2 Yorkton March 25-26. They won their final match 25-23 and 26-24 over Regina Purple Thunder March 26.
U14 Black
U14W Black Team under coaches Mary Jane Benesh, Kim Sauder and Keri White finished with silver medals in the Moose Jaw Element Tournament April 1-2.
After finishing first in their pool winning all three matches April 1 they went on to win their first two playoff games April 2 defeating the U14 Sundogs Yellow Team and Saskatoon’s JCVC Black.
They met up Moose Jaw Element in the gold-medal game and gave a strong performance in three sets 17-25, 25-11 and 19-17 to bring home the silver.
During the Sask Cup 2 tournament in Saskatoon March 11-12, they finished with a bronze in Division 2. They won the bronze with a 25-15, 25-17 over Estevan Extreme.
