Brooks onto to south final, four named all stars

The Brooks Bandits will open their defence of their Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) South Division championship at home this coming Friday and Saturday.

The last time Picture Butte High School won the Girls 2A Provincial Basketball Championships none of the current Sugar Queens team was even born yet.
In fact, there’s a good chance a few of their parents aren’t old enough to remember that gold-medal winning squad either.

The Brooks Bandits put the Canmore Eagles on the verge of elimination on Monday night, taking down their playoff opponents 6-2 at the Canmore Recreation Centre to take a 3 games to none lead in their best-of-7 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) South division semi-final series.

The Brooks Bandits and Montana’s raised a grand total of $2,232.75 on Thursday, March 10th to benefit the Brooks and District Health Foundation and its goal of bringing a dialysis machine to the Brooks Health Centre, the team announced.

Bandits to open playoffs Friday

Written by

The Brooks Bandits will open their 2016 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) playoff campaign at home this coming Friday, March 18th, the AJHL has announced.

The Brooks Bandits (48-9-2) became just the sixth team in Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) history to score 300 goals in a season, downing the Calgary Canucks by a 6-2 margin in their second to last game of the 2015-16 season at the Centennial Regional Arena on Friday night.

The midget Oyen Bees team are preparing for what many small-town hockey players always dream of, which is playing for a provincial title. What’s extra special for them is they are doing it in their own rink.

Tristan Thompson (Canmore, AB) scored twice in the rink in which he played his minor hockey, and the Brooks Bandits (47-9-2) set a new franchise record for goals scored in a season, in an 8-1 road win over the Calgary Mustangs played in front of a near-sellout crowd at the Strathmore Family Centre on Tuesday night.
