Brooks Bandits defenceman Jarrod Gourley (Calgary, AB) has won a gold medal as a member of Team Canada White at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, after a 6-2 win over Russia in the gold medal game on Saturday night.

Rookie defenceman Joe O’Connor (Hamden, CT) had a hat trick and four-point night as the Brooks Bandits (13-4-2) took down the Calgary Canucks (7-15-1) by a 9-2 final score at the Max Bell Centre in Calgary on Sunday afternoon.

Josh McKechney (Calgary, AB) scored his first career hat trick, while fellow rookie Matteo Aiello (Calgary, AB) scored his first two Junior A goals, and goaltender Troy Martyniuk (Winnipeg, MB) recorded his first AJHL win, as the Brooks Bandits (10-3-2) pulled away from the Calgary Mustangs (4-12-2) with a five-goal third period en route to a 7-2 road win at the Max Bell Centre on Monday night.

Bandits down Eagles 4-2 at home

The Brooks Bandits (9-3-2) of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) earned a measure of revenge at home on Saturday night, bouncing back from a 3-2 overtime defeat the night prior to the Canmore Eagles (9-7-1) by dispatching the visitors in the back half of a home-and-home series by a 4-2 final in front of 1,307 fans at the Centennial Regional Arena.

The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have returned 1999-born rookie forward Leif Mattson (Stonewall, MB) to the St. Albert Raiders of the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL), the team announced Oct. 15.

The Brooks Bandits (7-3) held the visiting Calgary Mustangs (4-7) to only 7 shots on goal, including just 1 in the third period, en route to a dominant 5-1 home win in front of 1,323 fans at the Centennial Regional Arena on Friday night.
