Bandits fire 65 shots on Olds, garner 4-1 win

In front of a Wednesday night crowd of just under 1,500, the Brooks Bandits (32-6-2) of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) sent fans home happy with their 14th consecutive win, 4-1 over the Olds Grizzlys at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Former Drumheller defenceman Tristan Thompson (Canmore, AB) had two assists and the shootout game-winning goal, as the Brooks Bandits (31-6-2) came back from a 4-3 second period deficit to down the Drumheller Dragons (17-20-5) by a 5-4 shootout score in front of a season-high 1,717 fans at the Centennial Regional Arena on Saturday night.

The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are proud to announce that 1999-born defenceman Jarrod Gourley (Calgary, AB) has committed to attend and play for Arizona State University.

The Brooks Bandits (24-6-2) followed up an 8-2 Friday night win over Drayton Valley in almost more impressive fashion Saturday night, exploding offensively for a 10-1 win over the visiting Sherwood Park Crusaders (22-11-2) at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Brooks Bandits defencemen Shane Bear (Calgary, AB) and Cale Makar (Calgary, AB) have been selected as two of 22 players to play for Team Canada West at the upcoming World Junior A Challenge tournament, Hockey Canada announced Tuesday.

Newcomers Ty Mappin (Big Valley, AB), Landon Welykholowa (Calgary, AB), and Tristan Thompson (Canmore, AB) all recorded points in their season debuts with the Brooks Bandits (20-6-2), who dispatched the Okotoks Oilers by a 3-1 score on the road on Thursday night.
