Canada’s commitment to Official Development Assistance (ODA) contributes to the improvement of global health, nutrition and education.
ODA supports several ministries, including the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Growth. This funding bolsters scientific communities in Canada and internationally, in turn advancing research on global health issues such as the eradication of polio, tuberculosis prevention and treatment, malnutrition and promotion of early childhood development - research crucial to the world’s poor.
We need to push for an increased financial commitment to ODA in the next budget, so we can effectively tackle problems of extreme poverty though research and innovation.
By doing so, Canada can establish itself as a global leader in poverty eradication.
