An organization called COPE 397 is getting a rally and town hall meeting organized for this Thursday and Friday in Swift Current.

COPE stands for the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union (COPE). According to its website "Local 397 is a progressive and professional Union with Members who work at Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI), Saskatchewan NDP Provincial and Caucus Offices, Saskatchewan NDP Constituency Assistants, the RM of Alexander, the U of R Faculty Association, and our Calgary Unit. We have over 1,700 members in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta."
There will be a town hall meeting April 20 in Swift Current at the Holiday Inn Express (1301 Service Road NE) and a noon-hour rally April 21 at Brad Wall Constiuency Office (233 Central Ave. N) .
COPE 397 has been hosting several Town Halls across Saskatchewan to address the recent changes to Bill 40.
These changes include the aim to redefine the word “privatize”, and if passed, this would allow the government to wind down, dissolve, or sell-off up to 49% of the shares in our Crown Corporations without consultation with the public or a referendum.
Bill 40 opens the door to a sell off our Crown Corporations to private interests, a massive privatization.
COPE 397 is proud to be working in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour, and other unions, to facilitate these sessions.
Privatization affects all of us, and we need to ensure our voices are heard.
