Rally to help save Saskatchewan Library system happens Friday

“Drop Everything and Read Rallies” are taking place outside Saskatchewan MLA’s offices and at libraries across Saskatchewan on Friday, April 7 to speak out against the Government of Saskatchewan’s major funding cuts to Saskatchewan’s public library system.


A rally will take place outside Premier Brad Wall’s office in Swift Current at 233 Central Avenue N. Library supporters will be assembling outside the Swift Current Branch Library at 411 Herbert St. East, Swift Current at 11:30am on Friday, April 7 and marching to Hon. Brad Wall’s office for a rally from 12:00-12:30 pm. There will be speakers from 12:00-12:15, and a Read In from 12:15-12:30.
Special guests will include Shimmer the Donkey who is a regular part of The Swift Current Branch Library’s Summer Reading Club activities, and Talla the Therapy Dog who volunteers for Read to a Dog at the same library.
A large turnout for the march and rally are expected.
