Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) board trustees agreed to cover the costs for two people from the division to attend the Alberta School Councils Association (ASCA) conference in Edmonton.

The Kaleidoscope of the Arts will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. The annual showcase of fine arts is a chance for students of all ages in Prairie Rose School Division schools to come together for one day and show off their talents in art, music and drama. They also have the opportunity to be adjudicated, receiving valuable feedback about their skills.

Officials at Burdett School have been concentrating on ways to get parents more involved in their children’s education this school year.

When Prairie Rose School Division trustees had the difficult decision before them regarding the future of New Brigden School, they were asked by one of their peers to be brave and make a decision that goes against the trend in rural Alberta.

A small contingent of students represented Prairie Rose School Division and Grasslands Regional Schools at the 2017 Kiwanis Southeast Alberta Regional Science Fair April 8.

New Brigden School will remain open for the foreseeable future, but as a grades 1-4 facility. That was the final decision made by Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) trustees at the regular April 11 board meeting.

With a continued commitment of funding from the Alberta government in the 2017-18 budget which was released in March, officials with the Alberta Rural Physician Action Plan (RPAP) are also focusing on an expanded mandate.

Although it’s not a large number of users in terms of visitors to Waterton Lakes National Park, individuals hoping to use their motorized or trailer-launched watercraft in the park will no longer be permitted to do so.

Due to emergent issues at Tilley School, trustees with Grasslands Public Schools agreed to make the facility number one on the division’s most recent capital wishlist to be submitted to the Alberta government by April 1.

Sustained predictable funding for Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils (WPAC) has been a long, hard-fought lobby, but success was finally achieved in Alberta last week.
