A thrilling second round playoff series between the Swift Current Broncos and the Regina Pats was decided in the seventh game in Regina on April 17, when the Broncos lost 5-1 to conclude the team’s first season under new head coach Manny Viveiros. The Broncos took a 3-1 series lead in Swift Current on April 11 by winning 5-4 in triple overtime, but the Pats won the next three games. The Pats won 3-2 in Regina on April 14 and the Broncos had another opportunity to wrap up the series in Swift Current on April 15, but the home team gave up a 3-1 lead in the second period and the Pats won 5-3 to force game seven in Regina. This was the first time since the 2007-08 season that the Broncos played in the Eastern Conference semi-final.
