Swift Current's progressive space rock band The Moon Runners helped to raise funds for the Saskatchewan Abilities Council with a well attended concert at the Lyric Theatre, March 4. The band members are Logan Amon (guitar), Brady Frank (bass), Brett Tinant (drums) and Stacy Tinant (guitar/lead vocals). It was the first ever concert fundraiser held by the Swift Current branch of the Saskatchewan Abilities Council. The event, which was sponsored by Linn's Hair Shop and Speedy Creek Home and Yard Maintenance, was one of a number of fundraising events in the run-up to the 30th annual Ability Bowl at Frontier Bowling Lanes in Swift Current, April 22. The theme of this year’s family-oriented bowling event is Rock ‘n Bowl and the grand prize is a ticket package to a Guns N’ Roses concert in Regina. There are already 43 teams registered for this year's event, and the goal is to have at least 46 teams and to raise $75,000. There will be two more events in the run-up to Ability Bowl. The PossAbilities Trade Show at the Swift Current Mall centre court takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 11. The event features local vendors offering home-based products and services, homemade items, unique gifts and raffle items. A Wing Night will take place at the Buffalo Brew Pub from 5-9 p.m., March 28. Patrons will receive one pound of wings and a pint of beer for $20, there will be silent auction items and a 50/50.
