Midget 57's have a tough weekend at provincials

Swift Current Minor Baseball and the Midget AA Swift Current 57's hosted the 2017 Midget AA Tier 1 provincial baseball championships, July 21-23. Eight teams competed for the provincial title.

 

The Swift Current 57's was eliminated with only one win after three games in pool A. The Swift Current team lost their opening game on July 21 when they gave up a lead of three runs in the bottom of the final innings to give the Midwest Diamondbacks a 10-9 win. The Swift Current 57's made a comeback on July 22 when they won 11-0 against the Regina Buffalos, but the 57's then lost 12-3 to the Moose Jaw Canucks to finish third in Pool A. The Northwest Prairie Pirates won the provincial title after a 3-0 win against the Parkland Expos in the gold medal game, July 23. The Prairie Pirates reached the final after eliminating the Moose Jaw Canucks 12-2 in the semi-final and the Expos won 11-2 against the Midwest Diamondbacks in the other semi-final.
