Broncos make trade with Kelowna

 The Swift Current Broncos made a trade to address their forward depth by acquiring 18-year-old forward Colum McGauley from the Kelowna Rockets. Going back to Kelowna is an eighth round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft.

Broncos select two Fins in CHL Import Draft

The Swift Current Broncos announced June 28 that the club has drafted a pair of players from Finland at the 2018 CHL Import Draft, selecting forward Joona Kiviniemi and blue liner Roope Pynnonen.

The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) will host their closest geographical rivals, the Drumheller Dragons, in their 2018-19 home opener on Friday, September 21st, it was announced by the league today.

White Sox do well in southwest U12 playoffs

The Swift Current Squirt White Sox softball team (pictured) won silver at the Sandhills Softball League U12 playoffs in Swift Current, June 17.

The Evans 7’s Swift Current High School Rugby Team traveled to Regina on May 23 for their third set of games this season. They played three games and ended with one win, a loss, and a tie.

They won the first game against O’Neil 43-5 with three new players scoring their first tries of the season. They then played their second game of the season against Campbell. This game was a little rougher and Swift Current lost 32-0. Their final game of the day was against Riffel, which was also for the second time this season. The two teams tied the game at 15-15 and another Swift Current player scored her first try of the season. The Evans 7's Swift Current team will be heading back to Regina for their  final set of games on May 30.

Leader leads the way in high school badminton

The SW badminton players had a successful competition at SHSAA provincials and came home with a gold and a bronze medal.
