SW Saskatchewan coaches honoured at SHSAA AGM

Adam Jackson of Swift Current Comp received the SHSAA service award for the Southwest district.  Adam received his award from the SHSAA president Val Gordon at the AGM in Moosomin on June 21.  Adam has taught, coached and officiated at the Comp for the last 15 years.  The award recognizes a person who has made provided outstanding leadership and service and the promotion of high school athletics in the District.  Congrats Adam! The SHSAA (Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association) held its AGM in Moosomin on June 20-22.

The delegation from the southwest included SHSAA president Val Gordon (Eastend), Chinook board rep Susan Mouland (Vanguard), officials rep Adam Jackson (Swift Current Comp), SWAC president Janna Walker (Swift Current Comp), Chinook administrator Ian Rewcastle (Hodgeville) , delegates Bryan Braun (Ecole Centennial), Heidi Connor (O. M. Irwin)and athletic coordinator Deb Reamer.  Approximately 160 attendees from every part of the province were in attendance.
It was a busy two days discussing and voting on resolutions concerning high school sports.
Thanks to SHSAA and our hosts from South East district for an informative conference.
SHSAA along with SWAC (Southwest Athletic Conference) honor the dedicated individuals who help make high school sport possible.
Each of the 14 districts in the province honorsone female coach, one male coach and one official.
The southwest winners for 2017/18 are as follows:
Female coach – Kendra Lehmann of Fox Valley.  Kendra has been a long time coach in both junior and senior volleyball.
Male coach – Gerry Dempsey of Swift Current.  Gerry has coached junior and senior badminton for many years.   Thank you Gerry!
Official – Megan Jackson of Swift Current.  Megan refs both volleyball and basketball.
One person from each district is also selected as the Service Award recipient. This award is presented to an individual who has provided outstanding leadership and service and the promotion of high school athletics in the District.
This year’s deserving winner is Adam Jackson of Swift Current Comp. Adam has taught, coached and officiated for 15 years.  Adam has coached cross country and track but his passion has always centered round basketball. Adam has also served as one of the athletic directors for the Comp as well as officiates basketball and football.   Adam received his award at the SHSAA AGM in Moosomin on June 21.
