The charges stem from an incident May 31.
At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 31st, Canadian Border Services Agency reported that a vehicle had illegally entered Canada from the U.S. at the Morgan border crossing near Val Marie, SK. A dark-coloured, two-door Infiniti sports car with Florida license plates had damaged barriers and travelled through the ditch to avoid stopping at the crossing.
Shaunavon RCMP attempted a traffic stop on Hwy. 13, but the vehicle continued westbound at extremely high speeds. No pursuit was initiated. Another attempt to stop the vehicle on Hwy. 37 was also unsuccessful.
Just after 1:00 a.m. Redcliff RCMP reported the vehicle travelling westbound through Medicine Hat...again, at high speeds. This morning at approximately, 10 a.m., Alberta RCMP advised that the suspect was arrested in Strathmore, AB. and the vehicle was seized.
This investigation is ongoing with assistance from CBSA, the Integrated Border Enforcement Team and U.S. law enforcement agencies.
