More international students will have an opportunity to further their education through programs offered by Great Plains College. The college is expanding its international program and additional enrolment options are now available for international students at both the Kindersley and Swift Current campus.

The 2019 Western Canada Summer Games will be hosting its second test event, a triathlon, on Sunday, August 5, at the Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. Races start at 8 a.m. at Cottonwood Beach (otherwise known as Main Beach) and include Sprint, Super Sprint, Try-a-Tri and Kids of Steel Aquathlon events. As a result, Highway 261 will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. 

The Canadian Rescue Hovercraft Pilots Association (CRHPA) is hosting the first ever Great Canadian Hover Rally in southwest Saskatchewan during the August long weekend.

A cross-country walk by police officers and youth is raising awareness about youth mental health and the importance of relevant support and programming services for young people.

RCMP found body of missing man near Gravelbourg

On July 24, 2018, investigators from the RCMP Major Crimes Unit South located a body southwest of the town of Gravelbourg in a open area. The body was that of an adult male and the remains were transported to Regina for a forensic autopsy on July 25. The body is now confirmed to be 48 year-old Claude Landry. Mr. Landry's family was notified of the discovery.
