During the Tuesday May 22 regular Council meeting, Michael Glynn Macdonald  announced that he has tendered his resignation as a City Councillor.

Macdonald gave a heartfelt resignation speech aimed at Council and residents of Brooks and stated that he feels he must step down  for personal reasons.
Mayor Barry Morishita, on behalf of all of City Council, expressed his support for Macdonald and his regret that he would not be able to carry on in his role.

“Councillor Macdonald has served our community admirably in many capacities over the years.  I support him as he makes this very difficult decision and I offer my support and wish him the best as he moves forward.”
As legislated by the Local Authorities Election Act, a by-election will be held to fill the vacancy.  The date of this by-election, as well as nomination day, will be established by resolution of Council during their regular Council meeting on June 4.
