One of the main reasons given as to why someone doesn’t volunteer is because they weren’t asked.

On May 15th, Volunteer Lethbridge is hosting the first ever Attract Volunteer Fair at Heritage Hall at Exhibition Park. We have 31 agencies confirmed to attend the event. The goal being to share how individuals or groups could become involved by giving their time, talent or treasures within southwest Alberta.
Come to explore and discover the vast array of volunteer opportunities by having first-hand conversations with a diverse number of agencies. Gather information that will help you decide how to get involved in the community through volunteerism.
Individual Social Responsibility and Corporate Social Responsibility are growing. People believe in community development, often they just don’t know where to start.
“I dreaded completing the 9 hours of volunteer requirement for my education program. I did not want to work for free! Once I accepted the fact that there was no way around it, I committed to volunteering to create an event budget for Volunteer Lethbridge. I researched supplies and costs and I had fun! I am a Finance Major, I recognized how volunteerism was an opportunity for experiential learning, putting my classroom learnings into practice. I began to see ways to engage potential sponsors. I now wanted to stick around and help with the event. Experiencing success through this volunteer position enlightened me to value the work of nonprofits and made me realize I had something to give to help. Try volunteering, it no longer is free labour to me. I helped, I learned, I experienced success,” says an unnamed 2nd year U of L student.
The Attract Volunteer Fair will be held at Heritage Hall on the Lethbridge Exhibition grounds from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. There is no cost to enter the Attract Volunteer Fair! Come, explore, discover. Agencies will be there to talk with you about ways you could participate in their organization.
This event is for individuals, groups, businesses.
