Nanton RCMP make four arrests and involving two stolen vehicles

RCMP in Nanton have charged four individuals with a number of offences after recovering two stolen vehicles on the same day in Nanton.


On the afternoon of March 15th, Nanton RCMP were contacted by Calgary Police Service and notified of a stolen F-350 that had travelled from Calgary to Nanton. An on-board GPS and disabling device was used by police to track the truck and, when it stopped in Nanton, the truck was remotely disabled. The lone male suspect was arrested without incident. A search of the suspect and the vehicle revealed drugs believed to be Methamphetamine and Heroin.

37-year-old Gregory Sigmunder Whitford of Nanton has been charged with 14 offences including Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, Possession of property obtained by crime, Failing to comply with probation, Failing to comply with a recognizance and Drive while disqualified. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear on March 21st, 2018 in Claresholm Provincial Court.

Later the same evening, a Nanton RCMP officer on patrol saw a vehicle hit the ditch on Hwy 533 just East of town. The officer attended and found the vehicle, a Ford F-350, was stolen. Three occupants in the truck, a male and two females, were arrested. Inside the truck, drugs, counterfeit currency, stolen credit cards and stolen identity documents were discovered.

Kelly Paul Alexander (33) of Cochrane is charged with Possession of methamphetamine, Possession of Stolen property and possession of counterfeit currency. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear on March 21st, 2018 in Claresholm Provincial Court.

Sarah Turner Stewart (18) of Calgary is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of  property obtained by crime, and eight counts of Possession of identity documents. She has been released from custody and is Scheduled to appear on March 21st, 2018 in Claresholm Provincial Court.

Tristen Chelsie Brewser (26) of Calgary is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of property obtained by crime, 5 counts of Failing to comply with a recognizance and 3 counts of Possession of Identity documents. She has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear on March 21st in Claresholm Provincial Court.

“Stolen vehicles can pop up anywhere, “ says Nanton RCMP Corporal Travis Ogilvie. “The public can help us in our crime reduction efforts by reporting suspicious vehicles and suspicious activity.”

Investigators are continuing to examine the evidence recovered from the stolen vehicles and additional charges are anticipated.
