Judging by the standing ovation for the work done by some of the pro-single desk directors of the Canadian Wheat Board, it appeared those in attendance at the CWB meeting were in favour of maintaining the status quo when it comes to the structure and operation of the agriculture marketing organization.

Agribition kicks off year of firsts

In the coming week, Canadian Western Agribition (CWA), Western Canada’s largest agribusiness trade show, is putting the emphasis on the “first” part of its 41st anniversary.

The Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act, Bill C-18, was tabled in the House of Commons. Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz introduced a Bill that would give Western Canadian wheat, durum, and barley farmers the freedom to market their grain as they choose.
