SEAWA officials hope for good relations

Even if annual funding for the South East Alberta Watershed Alliance (SEAWA) were to be stopped, officials with the volunteer organization hope a good relationship with City of Medicine Hat council can continue.

The “Prairie Winds Adventure Trail” was released to the geocaching public on July 6.  It is a series of geocaches that have been developed by volunteers of the Canadian Badlands Geocaching Association in cooperation with Canadian Badlands Ltd.

The Alberta government has committed up to $25 million under the 2011 Southern Alberta Disaster Recovery Program for communities hit hard by spring floods in southern Alberta.

Brooks’ mosquito control program for 2011

Officials with the City of Brooks will again be partaking in the mosquito control program this year.
The Parks Services Mosquito Control Program is designed to help combat West Nile Virus through a larvae control program. The program is not meant for nuisance mosquito control; the larvicide targets potential mosquito breeding sites in and around the city killing off mosquito larvae.

Through the month of July, some people may have been asking where’s summer, but according to Environment Canada meteorologist Dan Kulak, temperatures in southern Alberta haven’t really been that unusual.

MHC looking for next honorary degree recipient

Convocation 2012 is still six months away, but the Medicine Hat College’s Board of Governors is already searching for nominees for the 2012 Honorary Baccalaureate degree.
