The Swift Current Arts Council's 2017-18 concert series concluded on May 10 with a heartwarming performance of the play Miss Caledonia by award-winning actor and writer Melody A. Johnson. The play reflects on the realities of rural life in 1955 through the eyes of a teenage girl who wants to become a movie star and decides to enter a local pageant. Musical accompaniment for her performance was provided by Alison Porter on fiddle. The Swift Current Arts Council has released details about the line-up of performers for the 2018-19 concert series. There will be 10 concerts and a highlight will be the performance of Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden on Nov. 5.
