Swift Current Curling Club hosts U18 provincial championships, March 22-25, 2018

The Swift Current Curling Club hosted the 2018 Ramada Hotels U18 provincial championship, March 22-25. There were a total of 22 teams at the event, with eight teams each in the men's and women's divisions and six teams in the open recreational division. Moose Jaw's Team Ackerman, who represented the South West region, remained undefeated in the women's division to claim the championship title. Team Bindig from the Wadena Curling Club won the men's title and the open championship winner was Team Sutherland from the Rosetown Curling Club. The men's and women's U18 champions will represent Saskatchewan at the national championship at St. Andrews, New Brunswick, from April 9-14. Team Behm of Moose Jaw represented the South West region in the men's division. Swift Current curler Theo Lautsch was a member of Brett Behm's team. They were eliminated on Saturday night and finished the championship with three wins and three losses. Team Stark from Moose Jaw competed in the open division. The team won their opening game, but then lost two games and conceded their final game in the C event on Saturday morning.
