3rd Annual Southwest Run for Shelter in Swift Current, June 10, 2017

The 3rd annual Southwest Run for Shelter took place in Swift Current, June 10. The event is organized by the Southwest Youth Emergency Shelter (YES) as a fundraiser for the operation of Dorie's House, an emergency shelter for homeless youth that opened in Swift Current in January. There were 43 runners at this year's event. They had a choice of running a full or half marathon, or otherwise shorter distances of five and 10 kilometres. Below are the results for the fastest female and male runners in each event:

Marathon – fastest female Mailyn Leyeza (4:44.48), fastest male Rizalito Conijos (4:23.23); Half marathon – fastest female Ana Marie Espiritu (2:17.52), fastest male Ian Kennedy (1:43.40); 10 km – fastest female Danielle Bourgeois (52: 13.7), fastest male Wes Ginter (47:35); 5 km – fastest female Keleah Ostrander (25:11), fastest male Stacy Bolton (24:44).
