1st Annual SCCHS Case Competition in Swift Current, May 3, 2017

The Swift Current Comprehensive High School Business Club in association with Innovation Credit Union hosted the 1st annual SCCHS Case Competition in Swift Current, May 3. The event, which took place at the Innovation Credit Union, was an opportunity for students to get familiar with the format and to prepare for upcoming business competitions. Thirteen students participated in five teams, two in entrepreneurship and three in finance. They had three hours to deconstruct a finance or entrepreneurship case, and then had to present their findings and recommendations to a panel of judges. Ten students and SCCHS business teacher Cindy Lowe attended the 2017 Saskatchewan Business Teachers’ Association Conference and High School Case Competition at the University of Regina on May 4-5, where two teams compted in the finance category and one team in entrepreneurship. The SCCHS entrepreneurship team finished second, and the school also placed third in the social category and received third place in the school of the year award (out of 12 schools). The students are now preparing for an interprovincial competition in Brandon, Manitoba, on May 19.
