Students from around southwest Saskatchewan were able to learn more about agriculture, ranching and safety on the farm during the Swift Current Ag & Ex educational event Discover the Farm: A Farm Facts Experience at Kinetic Exhibition Park, April 27 and 28. The two-hour informational event in the Stockade building was attended by 548 students from 10 different schools in the Chinook School Division during the two days. They visited 12 interactive exhibits, including some with live farm animals, and they learned more about a variety of topics such as food and beef production, wearing protective head gear, water and train safety, first aid, and the importance of physical activity for a healthy lifestyle. The final day of the event on April 29 was open to the public and featured an exotic bird and animal sale, country crafts and a rabbit show. Discover the Farm has been recognized by the International Association of Fairs and Exhibitions as an outstanding agricultural and safety education program.
