Canadian children’s entertainers Splash’N Boots are bringing their family-friendly Big Love, Kisses and Hugs Tour to the Empress on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.

Nick Adams (Splash) and Taes Leavitt (Boots) formed the beloved musical duo in 2003 as a class project
while studying at Queen's University.
Much like their most recent Juno Award-nominated album Love, Kisses and Hugs, the upcoming concert
will be full of important Little Big Moments filled with dance, laughter, connection and love.
"The idea for the Big Love, Kisses and Hugs Tour started with a little boy named Nicholas. Nicholas' mom
e-mailed us because he was being severely bullied at school," explains Leavitt. Splash’N Boots gave him
a yellow and blue heart-shaped pillow and told him he could hug it anytime he needed it. Then, for his
birthday, Nicholas asked his friends and family for money instead of presents so he could buy other
kids hug pillows too. He raised $200.
Nicholas' inspiring love movement has in turn been embraced by Splash'N Boots. On the upcoming
tour, one child in every community where the tour stops will receive The Big Heart Award. They're
looking for a child who is doing “amazing things to connect people in the community and someone who
could use an extra bit of love and support.” Parents can enter a child for consideration at The Big Heart
Award Facebook group.
Splash'N Boots has also partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will go to support access
to music education for young children.
Crowned Canadian Children's Group of the Year at the SiriusXM Indie Awards in 2007, 2012 and 2014,
Splash'N Boots have recorded nine albums, released three full-length DVDs and performed in thousands
of live theatre and festival shows. They’ve been nominated five times for Juno Awards for Children's
Album of the Year.
Tickets to the Big Love, Kisses and Hugs show are $22 and available at or by
calling 403-553-4404.
