An indie Canadian country singer will be in Swift Current and Fort Macleod next week.

On Thursday, March 15th the Blenders Music Series is pleased to host Lindi Ortega at the Lyric Theatre in Swift Current.
Lindi Ortega is a Canadian country singer-songwriter who has been described as a blend of Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Emmylou Harris. This will be a unique performance you don’t want to miss!
It's also a good preview as according to her website, she's release her latest CD Liberty including Afraid of the Dark; You Ain't Foolin' Me; Til My Dyin' Day and Nothing's Impossible.
Ortega hails from Toronto, and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee. Ortega’s talent with the guitar and innate country music instincts has catapulted her into an elite group of artists. She has been described as “Toronto’s best kept secret” and is considered a unique and sought-after personality in Nashville’s music community and beyond.
For almost a decade, she was an independent artist in the Toronto music scene and released two albums and an extended play (EP) record during that time.
At the beginning of 2011, Ortega toured with the lead singer of The Killers, Brandon Flowers. The tour included several places in the U.S, United Kingdom, and Germany as well as televised live performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and at Abbey Road Studios.
In 2012, Ortega was nominated for two Juno Awards—New Artist of the Year and Roots & Traditional Album. In 2014 and 2015, Ortega won Roots Artist of the Year from the Canadian Country Music Association and over the years has received critical praise from the National Public Radio, Rolling Stone, Billboard and more.
In March of 2017, Ortega released her newest EP “Til the Goin’ Gets Gone”. It features a combination of Ortega’s fatalistic perspective expressed with her evocative soprano. After an extended stretch of touring, this EP signals a new chapter on her career and the dogged resilience of Ortega to get up, dust herself off, and step up for another round.
Tickets for Lindi Ortega can be purchased at Pharmasave for $35. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and music will begin at 8:30 p.m.
